The Mid-county Memo is your newspaper. We want to hear from you. Discuss an important issue or address a concern you want to call to the community's attention. We prefer e-mailed letters to the editor sent to Darlene Vinson at editor@midcountymemo.com. Please put “Letter to the editor” in the subject line. You can also mail your letter to 3510 N.E. 134th Ave., Portland, OR 97230 or fax it to 503-249-7672. Deadline for the May issue is Thursday, April 15.

Father-Daughter Dance photo resurrects memories
To the Editor:
All I want to do is make a comment on that picture on your cover (“Dads, daughters dine, dance at David Douglas” March 2010). It is just priceless. I remember taking my granddaughters to the David Douglas dance, and it just brought back so many memories; I can't believe it. That is pure love coming out of that child's eyes. Isn't that beautiful? Thank you again.

Recall Sam Adams now!
To the Editor:
I'm really confused most times about a bunch of things, old age, working hard since I was eight years old, have all taken a toll. One thing that IS clear to me is that this good newspaper has not spoken for the community with a firm resolve to recall the mayor of Portland: SAM ADAMS.

The ability to find and compile information that indicates we are on the edge of a fiscal breakdown (has long been) available; there is a record of this man's incredibly bad decisions, both private and public, that for any other person in the private sector they would have been fired long ago.

Please stand up now for all of us: www.citizenrecall.org/joomla/

Editor's note: For the record, the Mid-county Memo maintains a nonendorsement editorial policy.

Pool article makes a splash
To the Editor:
I wanted to write and thank you for the wonderful article your publication printed in your February 2010 issue (“Pool makes big splash in east Portland”) regarding our aquatics facility at East Portland Community Center.

When your reporter, Lee Perlman contacted me, I was excited to learn that he would be writing an article for your upcoming issue. I was “blown over” when I saw we were your front page feature, and to top it off, it included so many colorful pictures of people having fun.

The feature has been great publicity for us, and we have had many, many folks tell us they read about us in the Memo. Please thank Mr. Perlman for his excellent and accurate article. I was especially pleased he wrote that the community center was “more than a pool.”
