Meals on Wheels

Following is a list of meals to be served this month in the Mid-county area by Meals on Wheels. Meals are served at noon, Monday through Friday, at the Cherry Blossom Senior Services Office in the East Portland Community Center, 740 S.E. 106th Ave. There is a suggested donation of $3. Participants are asked to pay what they can comfortably afford. For more information, please call the Cherry Blossom Meals on Wheels at 503-256-2381.

In addition to the daily selection, Meals on Wheels provides milk and a choice of coffee or tea with each meal. Meals on Wheels offers an alternative main dish with each meal. Both choices appear in capitals. Side dishes follow and will be included with either selection.

Also, Cherry Blossom Center of Meals on Wheels reminds area seniors that its regular services include Asian cuisine made from scratch on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Thursday, Jan. 3: CHICKEN TETRAZZINI or FRENCH DIP and Italian Wedding Soup with Winter Mix Vegetables, Tossed Salad with Italian Dressing, Banana

Friday, Jan. 4: BREADED PORK with Gravy, Rice, Capri Vegetables, Orzo Salad or TORTELLINI SALAD with Orange

Monday, Jan. 7: SWEET and SOUR CHICKEN and Brown Rice or HAWAIIAN PIZZA with Oriental Vegetables, Creamy Coleslaw, Apple
Tuesday, Jan. 8: TURKEY POT ROAST with Mashed Potatoes, Stew Vegetables, Cabbage and Pepper Slaw or CHINESE CHICKEN SALAD and Mandarin Orange Gelatin

Wednesday, Jan. 9: BEEF PATTY with GRAVY and Yukon Gold Potatoes, or SPINACH LASAGNA and Capri Mix, Boston Bean Salad, Dressing, Banana

Friday, Jan. 11: BAKED SALMON with Tartar Sauce and Rice, or SWEDISH MEATBALLS with Rotini Noodles and Vegetarian Dinner Blend, Carrot Raisin Salad, Chocolate Chip Cookie

Monday, Jan. 14: GINGER CHICKEN and Rice or VEGETARIAN CHILI and Corn Bread with Scandinavian Blend Vegetables, Oriental Salad, Pear

Modified diets available with a doctor's prescription: soft, low sodium, diabetic and low cholesterol.
