Last month at the 2006 OSAA 4A State Wrestling Tournament in Salem, two Parkrose High School wrestlers brought home medals. Senior Camrun Arkills and sophomore Tyrell Fortune rose to the occasion and placed second in state. With their points being the only team points scored, they put Parkrose in 21st place overall. The only Mt. Hood Conference school to finish higher was Centennial High School. Team scoring put them in 14th place overall. Arkills, wrestling in the 140 lb. weight class, amassed a 122-32 record in four years. Winning district twice and placing third twice, Arkills is pursuing an athletic scholarship at a university in California.

In two years at Parkrose, wrestling in the 215 lb. weight class, Fortune has an overall record of 35-1, the one loss at the state championship final. Fortune got his wrestling start at age nine with Roy Pittman’s Peninsula Wrestling Club and has been going strong ever since. After graduating from Boise-Eliot Elementary in North Portland, Fortune decided on Parkrose and has found that he likes the school, students and staff. He plans to graduate from Parkrose a two-time state wrestling champion.
