Getting served by real-life princesses doesn't happen every day. But, if it did it would likely make you feel like a king, or queen. If you happened to be having lunch at the Parkrose Elmer's on May 24, you were probably served lunch by a Rose Festival Princess - with assistance from the Amtrak Cascades Character Clown Corps - as they helped kickoff the return of the Rose Meal from Elmer's Restaurants. Every day during the 2010 Rose Festival celebration - May 22 through June 13 - Elmer's Restaurants will donate 20 percent of all proceeds from their special Rose Meal menu in support of the Portland Rose Festival Foundation. The PRFF is a nonprofit organization that oversees the planning and execution of the programs and events of Portland's official festival.

Elmer's, a Portland-grown business celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, heralds the return of classic family favorites from menus past. “We're very pleased and proud to have the court here today,” said Joe Danna, co-owner with his brother Jerry of the Parkrose location and three other Elmer's. “We've had a history of supporting the Rose Festival and we're glad they chose our location for today's event; our customers are enjoying it.”

Elmer's Restaurants, with locations throughout the Portland metro area, feature menus highlighting the unique northwest flavors of every season. Elmer's is known for their northwest cooking and family-style dining and uses fresh ingredients sourced locally in Oregon and Washington.

Elmer's Restaurants was founded by Walt and Dorothy Elmer in Portland on 82nd Avenue. Since 1960, Elmer's Restaurants has built a tradition of delivering premium meals at moderate prices, while maintaining high standards for service and hospitality. For the past 50 years, this focus has built an intensely loyal customer base.

“Elmer's is very excited to reignite our partnership with the Rose Festival Foundation. In celebration of our 50th anniversary, it only makes sense to partner with the sprit and tradition that the Rose Festival brings to Portland each year,” said Jill Ramos, Elmer's corporate director of marketing. “We share common goals in support of Portland's local economy, and we look forward to continuing this great tradition for years to come.”

Today, Elmer's Restaurants, Inc. operates and franchises 25 restaurant locations across three brands, including Mitzel's American Kitchen and, most recently, Taprock Northwest Grill.

Elmer's Restaurants source local, farm-fresh ingredients, and are proud to bring the seasons of the northwest directly to your table. Visit Elmer's Restaurants Web site for more information at elmers-restaurants.com. To get more information about the Portland Rose Festival, visit RoseFestival.org.
