Drinking (and dining) for dollars

Drinking for dollars is how one celebrant described this Parkrose High Senior All Night Party fundraiser at the Refectory Restaurant on a festive Friday night last month. Diane Pow, left, serves Parkrose parents Todd and Deanne Paltridge and Londa Sundin. Pow, Mary Davidson and 2011 SANP Chair Allison Newman-Woods stepped up behind the bar as celebrity bartenders for a few hours to raise funds for the annual PHS post graduation celebration - which holds the distinction of being Oregon's oldest graduation party.

Real Refectory bartender Kevin McManus gave them the short course on taking orders, pouring drinks and serving. Fifty percent of the tips, about $250, went to SANP coffers. McManus encourages other non-profit groups to contact him about hosting a Celebrity Bartender fundraiser. Call him or Manager Ed Olson at 503-255-8545 to make arrangements.
If you want to donate or know someone - even a local merchant you think may want to donate to the Senior All Night Party - e-mail Newman-Woods at allison944@gmail.com.
