Too much attention being paid to football
The Parkrose High School football team always seems to be the talk of the school district, but can I ask why? Let me just start off by saying that I think that people pay way too much attention to Parkrose football when they are not even that successful. I know that Tim Price is going to try to boost morale by bettering our football team, and Dr. Gray has some pretty high hopes, but I think that it’s all a big joke.

I just graduated from Parkrose, and I was actually the sports editor of the Bronco Blaze (the PHS newspaper). Let me just say I had many opportunities to discuss the state of the football team with Superintendent Dr. Gray, Athletic Director Sanjay Bedi and even the principal, Mr. Reynolds, but I still came to the same conclusion: Parkrose football is not successful. We are spending hundreds of dollars each year attempting to improve a team that is not getting better while in the meantime ignoring and cutting the budgets of all the other teams that are successful at Parkrose.

I think that before Parkrose goes out of its way (to) improve the not improving football team, they need to step back and think about all the other sports. Football is not the only morale booster of a school, and if it is, well that just makes Parkrose seem rather pathetic.

Well, good luck on “(showing) them the football program is moving in the right direction,” Tim. You definitely have your work cut out for you. And Dr. Gray, you may want to lower your standards a bit or you will be quite disappointed.
